I was born in Mauritius. and currently live in Sydney.
I studied at the College of Fine Arts UNSW where I received a BFA, MA and MFA.
My works have been exhibited internationally including the TATE
Modern (2010), The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (2010) and the
Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney (2009). More recently my works have
shown at DOX Center of Contemporary Arts (2016) and Haifa Museum of Art
(2017) and GOMA, Brisbane (2017-18).
I have received numerous awards for my works including; the 1998 Bonn
Videonale, the Judges Special Prize for the ZKM International Medien
Kunst Preis (2001) and the Create NSW & Museuem of Contemporary Arts fellowship (2018-19)
During the 1990s I was a member of the performance ensembles Gravity
Feed and the Post Arrivalists and also worked with Japanese company
Gekidan Kaitaisha in the Drifting View X, Tokyo. My performance practice
has strongly influenced my visual arts practice.
I have taught at numerous tertiary institutions including College of Fine Arts
(UNSW Art & Design) and The University of Sydney.
