A Surveillance camera is attached to a monitor. Placed in front of both monitor and camera are small mirrors which reflect and obscure the information. The panopticon subjected to its own gaze. The structure is left to face its own myths where the threat of vision/observation equates power. Reassuringly trapped in the process of monitoring, its sees itself recording and thus is happy and content of its existence. Outside of this structure on the opposite side of the mirrors, are birds perched onto an idyllic branch, with the brand name “Happiness” prominently placed onto these objects. A reassuring sign that everybody is happy.

Those who view the work are seduced into perpetrating this myth. An image content that its reflection has been captured by the lens sees itself as part of the equation which leads to security.

The structure quietly records information. Slowly but certainly building up an archive for itself. The structure also channels this information in real time to a monitor located either outside the gallery or in another room.
(See movies for example of recordings).
